wow, so I dropped the ball on this post....its been a draft since July 6th....
I can't believe it! 15 months with the best little girl in the world.
We had her 15 month check up this past Tuesday, still 90% to 95% for weight and height :)
She is growing just as she should be, developing wonderfully. She is so smart, too smart for her own good.
I have so much enjoyed having her all to myself this summer. I have been working on my exit projects and research paper for my masters to graduate in August, but its so hard to work when all I want to do is play with Moey.
and I apparently had no more to say, lol.

More Words
Moey said two new words today...
{bow}
After getting her outfit on for the day, I opened up her bow drawer...Moey yelled out BOOOOWWWWW.
{cheese}
We went grocery shopping today and picked up some deli items. I ordered some land o lakes white american...Molly shouted CHEEESH! CHEEESH! The boy working behind the deli counter ran and cut her a piece. It was so funny!
I can tell what is important to us and to her. Putting a bow in her hair and a daily snack of cheese.
I love summer.

14 months...and a phone dump
Wow. All I can say is WOW. Moey is doing the most amazing things; she is truly a toddler now, and no longer a baby.
Her vocabulary is growing rapidly. Every day a new word seems to sneak in. She now says "humperdink"...for those out there who are Princess Bride fans, you will know where that comes from.
She runs. Especially when we chase her through the kitchen :)
She loves corn on the cob.
Moey likes to put on sunglasses.
Today I was cooking and she was hanging out in the kitchen with me, I bent down and said, "can i have a kiss?" Mo got a huge smile on her face, came over, put her arm around my neck, gave me her best 14 month old slobber kiss, and then said, "hiiiiiii momma."
Oy, my heart just MELTS!!
She uses a SPOON! Today we had kielbasa with some glazed carrots and applesauce. Once I had spooned some applesauce for her, I handed her the spoon. She grabbed it with her left hand :) and started eating away! We were amazed at her control!
She dances, ALL THE TIME.
Moey loves Yo Gabba Gabba. She knows she can watch it on Papa's kindle. When she goes into our room, she finds the kindle on Papa's side table, brings it to us and says, "Gabba??!!"
Moey has the curliest hair. I love it. Its gotten to the point that we now have to put spray conditioner in it and comb it every night before bed. When her hair is crazy, its CRAZY. She gets compliments every where she goes about her hair {and her blue eyes}.
She loves to color-----and eat the crayons. and chew the markers. Her scribbles are just darling.
Her favorite books are That Fat Cat and It's Not Easy Being a Bunny. When we ask to point to the cat or to the bunny in those books...she can. She floored us with that one.
Gah, I love this child.

tubes
Moey got her tubes today!
Wow, looking back on it now, it was a great worry for nothing.
We got to the hospital at 11:45 and checked in. Moey got her fancy ankle bracelet and we went upstairs to the waiting room.
About 10 minutes later we were called in to get all set in a private room. Moey got to wear her very first johnnie shirt and little yellow socks that made her feet look like duck flippers. {they were the cutest things}.
For the next 30-45 minutes it was hustle and bustle. Some nurses said they were running 40 minutes late....others said Mo was next in line. I honestly think they lied to us. It was to make things fast and quick so we didn't have much time to think, or cry, haha. Many doctors and nurses came in, asked all the same questions over and over. Wanda...the "booboo" lady is my new favorite nurse of all time. She came in to take Moey's blood to check her hemoglobin before surgery. She was 5 foot nothing and full of energy. She told us about how she took her grand babies to "Big Bird" aka...Giant Eagle to get some "fun cereal" because she had gotten "that kinda paycheck". She was so good, Moey had no clue what had happened.
Korey came in and helped Moey learn more about her special mask and funny hats she would see in "her room". She also did a "separation trial" where she took Mo on a walk down the hall to see how she would do with the nurses when they bring her down to surgery. Mo did great. It was probably because Korey was very pretty :)
Then it was time! Lots of forms to sign and initial. Lots of reassuring words, and then Nurse Brian came in to take Mo. He gathered up her "friend", blanket, and paci...let us give kisses and then took her down the hall.
I was very surprised at how I did not cry at all. I was so calm, the staff just made me feel so much at ease.
Papa and I went down to the cafeteria to get a snack, by the time we got back up the one flight of stairs (about 10 minutes later!) they were already paging us to the desk! Dr. N was already there to see us! That was fast!!! He said everything went perfect and they were able to get a "significant amount" of fluid out of her ears.
In about 5 more minutes we were called over to the desk again, we were able to go back to see our Moey!!!
When we saw her in recovery she was sitting up snuggled by a nurse. As soon as she saw me she reached for me. We got comfortable in a chair together, and then she started to get really fussy. She was waking up, very confused. Poor baby! Her recovery nurse, Debbie, asked us if we wanted apple juice or gatorade. Appa Jee all the way. She also asked if we wanted a bottle or sippy....um bottle...lets just break the rules today shall we?
So Debbie came back with a full strength apple juice bottle for Mo. Moey was instantly happy and snuggled right in with her cold, sweet juice.
Soon, we were able to move to phase II recovery, watched some spongebob and got a visit from two hospital clowns. Now, normally I am super freaked out by clowns. But these two volunteers were so adorable...they were so sweet to our Moey, and gave her special treats to remember them by. They were telling the kids they had face surgery....it was hilarious.
After Mo was discharged, we went home and took a 3 hour nap. Mo woke up, hungry and her regular self....well as much as could be expected. Tomorrow we are just going to snuggle and play all day.
Great job Moey! We are so proud!!

13 month old Moey...
Wow, has it really been a month since her birthday!?
It is like something has clicked with her. She has started understanding so much more and doing so many more things.
Moey loves to try to whistle. She purses her lips and blows hard. She's actually quite good at it.
She understands simple commands...now I know that makes me sound like she's a puppy...haha. If I ask her to bring me a toy, she brings it right over.
Moey loves to share. She will bring you what she has and holds it to you.
She is practically running.
Her most recent trick is backing up. She loves to sit in our laps. She will walk over and back up into you. She also does this with other objects such as blankets and exercise balls.
She loves standing on her head!!!
She LOVES her baby doll, Clarence. She walks around with him, burps him, kisses his head. It is so sweet.
She is a champion sleeper on her own! She doesn't even cry when we put her to bed. She rolls right over, grabs a friend and snuggles.
She says bye-bye and hi now, of course with the appropriate hand movements.
She understands yes and no. She answers questions with a head nod or a shake. Its so funny. She is very deliberate in her movements.
Such a sweet little toddler.
Her ear infections just keep coming. She is getting ear tubes onJune 12th May 15. We are nervous and excited about the surgery. Many people like to put blame on formula for ear infections. Moeys doctor said this is not the case. There is not enough evidence to show there is a huge correlation between formula fed babies and ear infections. Its all about their anatomy. The ear canal of a 1 year old is horizontal, making it hard for built-up fluid to drain. When you can't get rid of the fluid----it just keeps getting infected. So hopefully the tubes will help Moey and she won't be uncomfortable anymore.

Big Gurl
Moey is becoming such a toddler. And it is time we teach her toddler things.
We have always either co-slept with her, or at about 8 months when we started rocking to sleep, putting her down asleep and bringing her into our bed for the middle of the night feedings and snuggles.
This past Sunday night we decided she was ready to learn to go to sleep on her own. She is of course always welcome in our bed , but it is time to help her learn some more sleep-independence.
Sunday night - she cried for 45 minutes. We went in, many times, patted her back. Gave her kisses. She fell asleep and slept the whole night.
Monday Night - cried for 30 minutes. Momma came in to soothe, so she knew I hadn't left. Fell asleep slept the whole night.
Tonight, Tuesday night - cried for 30 seconds. She put her head right down and is now snuggled, happily sleeping in her bed. Holding her friend in her sweet little hand.
She knows what to do. The first two nights were so hard. But, we knew she wasn't hurt, she wasn't too cold or too hot, she wasn't wet or dirty, she was just mad! :)
I am so glad we have done the things we have with her sleeping habits. I honestly think, with our own baby that co-sleeping with her for so long and gradually making the transition to her crib has made her know that sleeping is a nice, happy thing. Not a scary, alone, thing.
Making her crib an inviting place is also a key element. We are total rule breakers here. When she was smaller, and less mobile, we did follow the rules of no excessive blankies, no toys, no bumpers. Now, the bumper is back up, she has a fluffy blanky for her to sleep on, a dolly and a friend to snuggle with, and a pillow. Heck, I would even sleep in there!
The bumper really helps the crib get nice and dark and snuggly. Its like a little baby cave in there. She also loves the pillow.
One of the biggest mistakes we made as new parents was going out and buying the most expensive mattress on the market. Moey hated it. It was way too firm, and made a lot of noise. We finally came to our senses and got the just as good- what were you thinking before- $30 mattress from Target. Squishy, yet firm, and leads to a better night sleep.
Now we are seriously thinking of getting a video monitor. I miss that girl right now and I want to be able to see what she is doing in there! But, before we go out and splurge on an expensive monitor, maybe we will come to our senses, and not have another palm-to-forehead incident.

Moey's First Birthday Party
We had a party for our girl.
It was wonderful.
She ate cake. Wore yellow. Collected eggs in a basket that was bigger than her.
Our wonderful friend Roni took pictures for us. This is what she captured.
From this... To this...
It is amazing what has happened in a year. We love you Moey.
